Happy Plant® 1-1-1 Plant Food Tablets vs. Jobes® 5-5-5 Fertilizer Sticks

These plants were grown at the Farming For Humanity Foundation Center in Vinita, Oklahoma; utilizing organic humate and nutrient based Happy Plant® tablets and the centers Root Zone Feeding program.

  • Plant No. 1 was grown from seed with Happy Plant® Starter Tabs, and Happy Plant 1-1-1 3-gram tablets
  • Plant No. 2 was grown from seed with Jobes® 5-5-5 chemical Fertilizer Sticks

Thirty (30) days from seed planting both plants No. 1 and No. 2 were removed from the growing containers, and the roots exposed to examine the overall root development and length of growth.  We further examined to what degree or extent that the Happy Plant tablets, and the Jobes fertilizer sticks had dissolved.  Both plants were examined and replanted in the same growing medium and growing container as original, and watered to continue growing; the following was noted:

Plant No. 1 (Happy Plant) produced a significantly more developed root system, and as shown in the photo, experienced no “transplant shock” as would be expected from exposing the roots.  The Happy Plant tablets had dissolved only approximately ? of the tablet, leaving ? of the tablet to continue feeding the plant.

Plant No. 2 (Jobes) produced an average at best root system, and as shown in the photo, experienced significant “transplant shock” as a result of exposing the roots.  Furthermore, the Jobes sticks were 100% dissolved (except for a residue paper type stick), leaving no additional nutrients to continue to feed the plant to maturity.
